We don't have to be alone Jack by AlishmcMalish We don't have to be alone Jack by AlishmcMalish
"I do know what it's like to be cast out, to not be believed in! To long for... a family... All those years in the shadows, I thought no one else knows what this feels like... but now I see I was wrong."

I'll be the first to say RotG was far from perfect and really needed work on the plot. That being said, I still really liked it because it was beautiful and all of the characters were likeable. But seriously... Dreamworks needs to start using a different plot from the same one they rehash over and over...

Regardless, I loved the dark and sad undertones of this one and Pitch's underlying vulnerability and lonliness really worked for me. I really liked how he was just like COME ON JACK. PLZ BE MY BRO. NO ONE WANTS TO BE MY BRO BUT THAT'S ALL I WAHAHAHAAAANT.
His back story is ridiculously tragic in the book. I wish they'd even remotely /hinted/ at it in the movie. He seemed very... one dimensional.

Anyways, I spent about 7 hours on each of these and decided to paint them both in one day because I don't know why but there. c:

Ahhhh so gorgeous~ Yeah, the film was definitely flawed, but overall enjoyable and containing some very compelling characters. My biggest complaints were the complete lack of Pitch backstory and how they dealt with him at the end. :< I guess we just have to hope for a sequel that delves into it properly~

The film was beautifully animated, and we all fell for Jack's grin and there were a few laughs in there, but yes I agree, the plot needed work :(

This picture is amazing! I love the contrast and the colouring is wonderful

I think the movie would've been better if they actually started at the beginning rather than come up with a brand new story that doesn't even exist in the novels yet...not to mention tossing newcomers (like myself) into a mess they can't even understand from the very beginning; Who's this? idunno. Are they high? They're all talking to the moon and crap. LOOK A BAD GUY. MUAHAHAHAHA IMMA GO MAKE THESE HORSIE THINGIES THAT APPARENTLY TAKE HUNDREDS OF YEARS TO PERFECT EVEN THOUGH I JUST MADE ONE IN TWO SECONDS.

I mean, the freaking author of the series was involved in this! It had so much potential, but they wasted it on the visuals and action sequences...which are very nice, but that doesn't excuse the lack of creativity for the plot. The ending was alright. They at least didn't go to the lowest common denominator by defeating Pitch with "the power of love". Facing fears is still a bit clichéd, though not as bad.
